MEET KELSI

I would like to take the time to put the spotlight on this rider! This is Kelsi & Grunt from H.E.A.R.T HORSEMANSHIP

Left to right: Grunt, Chelsea from HEART, Kelsi

Last weekend I witnessed the local horse community of Genesee county come together and be a part of this girl's journey to her first horse show at Michigan State University!

Special thanks go to all involved!

Kelsi & Grunt did wonderful in their class that day. She sported a fashionable hunt seat riding outfit which looked wonderful with Grunts golden coat and styled mane/tail.

Check out their photos below!!!!
Watch out for this stunning team as they take on the world of horse showing!

Back at it doing what I love

So I'm back volunteering at Horses Haven and brought along an old friend who is an aspiring Veterinarian! Here's some photos of us at the farm in Howell, Michigan.

Future Therapeutic Riding Pony at HEART Horsemanship

Had the pleasure of riding La Te Da on a bareback pad for the first time a couple weeks ago at HEART HORSEMANSHIP she's going to make a wonderful therapeutic riding pony! Brownie points for letting me ride her backwards! She also is not wearing a bit in her mouth. Does this mean one day we'll be able to pull a Stacey Westfall? For those who have not seen that beautiful video I have attached the link right here please go watch it!

The magnificent Stacy Westfall riding without a saddle or bridle stopping after galloping at full speed!

Yes I am riding backwards! Thanks to Chelsea for leading her. The best view on a horse is not limited to looking between the ears!

Fighting the Winter

It's winter time in Michigan which can only mean seeing images like this:

Even though it's too cold to ride or seems like there's little do with horses and volunteering you will be surprised to learn you're mistaken.

Horses' Haven of Howell, MI is looking for volunteers right now for the winter because of a shortage. If you need volunteer hours or a workout this is the place for you!

HEART Horsemanship of Flushing, MI might be keeping their riders inside but it doesn't stop you from contributing as a sponsor!

Personally, I'd like to become a yellow ribbon sponsor one day.

Meet H.E.A.R.T. Horsemanship!

Two days ago I went and visited H.E.A.R.T. Horsemanship in Flushing, MI located at Van N Sons Farm on Beecher Road. I learned a lot about therapeutic riding, PATH International (umbrella association on therapeutic riding) and the benefits for both Volunteer and Riders. Chelsea, the therapeutic instructor/manager, did a fantastic job showing everyone around and explained everything in great detail. I am inspired by her hard work and am glad to have promoted volunteers through my community Volunteering With Horses - Horses & Humans Working Together. I am thrilled to have signed up and hope to volunteer before I leave this Sunday. I do know that no matter where I am physically, I would love to be a part of therapeutic riding.

Meet Horses' Haven!

Horses' Haven is located in Howell, MI and looking for volunteers, no experience with horses necessary. Some minimal paperwork which you have to go through. You can call the barn at 517.548.4880 or email horseshavenmi@gmail.com. http://www.horseshaven.org/
https://www.facebook.com/MIHorsesHaven

This foundation was started by Barbara Baker. I first started volunteering with horses here through National Honor Society. Prior to joining NHS I had never volunteered with horses. I have always had a passion for horses and have owned many personally but did not know organizations like this existed. Horses' Haven inspired me to save the world one horse at a time and became my Pageant Platform for Miss America Prelim pageants.

Recently, I took a leap of faith and created Volunteering With Horses - Horses & Humans Working Together, my new Pageant Platform, to try and solve the problem of linking volunteers and these Equine (horse) organizations together.

For my 18th Birthday I asked my friends to bring a donation or Applesauce for Horses' Haven and this is what happened: Over $80 in donations plus bags of peppermints and unsweetened applesauce. Here are some pictures!
